Idol News: Lopez Earns $20 Mil, McCreery & Alaina Video Debut
J-Lo scores a cool $20 million dollar paycheck for her second season on ‘American Idol’.
Executive producer of American Idol Nigel Lythgoe has made the much anticipated announcement on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show On Air with Ryan Seacrest that Jennifer Lopez will indeed be returning as a judge on American Idol’s eleventh season. Lopez, who had a one-year $12 million contract for last season, reportedly will be making upwards of $20 million for her second year on the show.
The timing of the announcement leads us to believe that Lopez’s soon-to-be-ex-husband Marc Anthony had wanted the star to ditch her lucrative Idol gig in order to focus on the couple’s new Latin music show instead. Could American Idol be partly to blame for the A-list couple’s breakup?
JudgesSteven Tyler and Randy Jackson will be joining J-Lo on next season’s American Idol, keeping the trinity intact. Jackson has been a judge since the show’s beginning and Tyler will be fulfilling his second year of a two-year contract. There has been no announcement as to whether his contract will be renewed.
All three Idol judges will be on the road in a few weeks as auditions will be held in Denver, Houston, St. Louis, Portland, OR, San Diego, Pittsburgh and Charleston, NC.
